It’s hard to come by (but a few ones like the Thinkpad X1 Carbon have them), but try to find the closest to it. While I’m not sure how many megapixels the photos are that your wife edits (and assuming usually RAW files?), but if they aren’t crazy 30-40 megapixel RAWs, I would echo some of the others and first focus on a screen that is as close to 100% Adobe RGB (or P3 - similar size gamut but slightly diff colors that are prioritized) as you can find. Then you can import it to the master catalog when you return home. I recommend keeping a master catalog on the desktop and then a temporary one on the laptop, which only relates to the photos currently being worked on.

Whatever you get, you're going to run into the issue of how to manage the Lightroom catalog. More RAM is better, though more than 8 GB doesn't really benefit Lightroom itself much. I would opt for the fastest clock speed you can get. I bought it refurbished from Apple, which cuts a few hundred off the price. The build quality is really good and I haven't had any major issues since I got it over three years ago. None of the other laptops had an i7 with as high a clock speed or as nice a screen and even then, they weren't any cheaper with otherwise similar specs.

I looked at Dell, Lenovo and some other brands, but I kept coming back to the Macbook Pro being the best deal. I wanted something slim and light for traveling, but also powerful and with a good screen. I was in a similar position a few years ago. For previous major releases, Adobe has released a public beta first, but whether or not Lightroom 6 has a beta phase first remains to be seen.
While this doesn't necessarily mean that the release of Lightroom 6 is imminent, I would expect that if they're putting this warning out now, it will be along sooner rather than later. Focusing our work on more modern operating systems and architectures allows us to spend more time adding functionality requested by users, including additional advanced imaging features and improving general application performance."

"In order to leverage the latest operating system features and technologies, Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Specifically, the Mac version would require 10.8 or higher, and the Windows version would require Windows 7 or higher. On its official "Lightroom Journal" blog yesterday, Adobe posted a somewhat unusual entry warning users that the next major release of Lightroom, Lightroom 6, would have new system requirements.
